Posted by Gail M. Burns - January 2010
Curtain Call Theatre in Latham, NY will hold auditions for “King O’ The Moon” by Tom Dudzick, directed by Phil Rice, on Sunday, January 17th and Monday January 18th at 6:30 p.m. at the theater, 210 Old Loudon Rd, Latham.
“King O’ The Moon” is the sequel to “Over the Tavern” taking place 10 years later, in 1969 on the verge of the first moon landing.
We are looking for four men and three women as detailed below:
RUDY PAZINSKI (M) 20′S – AWOL from the seminary and knee deep in anti-war protests, Rudy returns to his traditional, rather conservative family.
EDDIE PAZINSKI (M) 20′S – the oldest brother, an enlistee about to be shipped off to Viet Nam and also soon to be a father. Married to Maureen.
GEORGIE PAZINSKI (M) 20′S – Mentally challenged, Georgie is emotionally and verbally a young child; but he is very much aware of what’s going on around him and in many ways, the heart and soul of the family.
WALTER (M) 50′S – The bartender at the Pazinski’s tavern and an old friend of the late patriarch. A widower who unbeknownst to the kids, has developed a romantic relationship with his boss, Ellen. He’s full of homespun Polish philosophy and good, old fashioned common sense.
ELLEN PAZINSKI (F) 50′s – A widow who runs the family tavern and holds the family together. She is smart, tough, funny and irrepressible.
ANNIE PAZINSKI (F) 20′s – The only girl in a family full of boys, she struggles with her self-esteem and does battle with her brothers while harboring secrets of her own, including a marriage on the rocks.
MAUREEN BLAKE PAZINSKI (F) 20′s – Eddie’s pregnant wife who, in high school was known as “Easy Make Blake.” She is the feisty outsider in the family: earthy, blunt, honest and funny.
All roles are available. Rehearsals will begin in early April; the production runs Thursdays through Sundays, May 21 through June 26.
