In the classic Sherlock Holmes case set in the 1880′s, rich landowner, Sir Charles Baskerville, is found dead on the moors, apparently a victim of the family curse. The footprints of a gigantic hound are found near his body. Holmes and Watson are called in to protect Henry Baskerville, the young Canadian heir, and to determine who or what is truly responsible for Sir Charles’ death.
Characters needed are:
Sherlock Holmes – (35-55 years of age), a private investigator from London. Holmes will be portrayed in classic “deerstalker” style but not a copy of any other actor who has performed the part.
Dr. Watson – (40-50) Holmes’ dedicated colleague. An educated and experienced man, toughened by war service and his adventures with Holmes.
Lady Agatha Mortimer – (40-50) a medical doctor and classmate of Watson. Ample, “tweedy” and forceful.
Sir Henry Baskerville – (25-35) brash young heir to a fortune and a curse. Canadian, honorable.
The Barrymores – (40-60) husband and wife, butler and housekeeper, respectively at Baskerville Manor. He is rather sinister, but both are capable and know a great deal about the moors and the family.
Kathy Stapleton – (20-30) vivacious friend of Sir Henry. Attractive, alert, vital, captivating.
Jack Stapleton – (25-35) Kathy’s brother. Given to emotional outbursts.
Laura Lyons – (20-35) a capable maid with a dangerous secret.
Ages are suggested only. “Couples” (Holmes and Watson, the Barrymores and Jack and Kathy Stapleton) should be contemporaries.
Production Dates: May 14 – 23, 2010
