‘Three Guys’ live Upstairs at the Triplex
Posted by Gail M. Burns - February 2010
GREAT BARRINGTON – Upstairs Live at The Triplex will present three of the Berkshires’ most creative minds – Bobby Sweet, Bill Shein and Larry Zingale – together on stage in “Three Guys at Upstairs Live” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25.
“Three Guys” is an exploration of the spoken word through three distinct forms with award-winning humorist Shein doing stand-up comedy, singer-songwriter Sweet performing his engaging folk music and acclaimed writer Zingale reading from a selection of his work.
Shein is a writer and performer from Alford whose humorous syndicated newspaper column, “Reason Gone Mad,” appears locally in the Berkshire Eagle and won the National Press Club Award for Humor in 2005, 2008 and 2009. “Three Guys” marks his return to the stage after more than a decade.
Sweet is a Berkshire native and sixth-generation musician whose rootsy folk music has gained a devoted following over his last five albums. He has shared the bill with some of the country’s top folk artists, including Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger, while also working as a sought after lead guitarist, who has performed with Willie Nelson, George Jones and others.
Zingale is a writer and playwright whose first play, “Puppy Love,” was performed at the Lenox Arts Center at Wheatleigh and off-Broadway with the New York Plays in the late 1970s. He is currently finishing a novel, “Sunday,” and his latest play, “Reaching For The Moon,” will have a public reading in the Berkshires this winter.
Tickets are $15. The Triplex is located at 70 Railroad St. Info: 413-528-8886 or thetriplex.com.
