Walking the dog Theater Announces Performance Line-up for 2010

Posted by Gail M. Burns - June 2010

Walking the dog Theater announces its performance line-up for 2010 and its special 2for1 Membership Package for only $99. The company will present a wide array of productions that will showcase their approach to ensemble theater. The 2010 Season will give life to many diverse stories in colorful ways, exploring the riches of American and world literature as well as venturing into the world of opera for the second time since WTD’s 2008 success of Red Carnations.

WTD’s theater season will renew collaborations with local arts organizations and promises to be exciting and rewarding: it will open with Our Town, in co-production with PS21 in Chatham. This American classic by Thornton Wilder honors the universal experience of ordinary human lives and will have a few surprises. September will see another collaboration with Diamond Opera Theater: the one-woman opera Bon Appétit!, based on a Julia Child cooking show will be at the heart of an evening around the encounters between food and the performance arts of theater and opera. With The Actors’ Ensemble WTD will bring Tina Howe’s theatrical gem Painting Churches to the stage. The year will end with a surprise production in December, followed by WTD’s seasonal favorite, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. Aside from the professional Season, Walking the dog Theater’s education programs for all ages and abilities are on-going, as are their popular monthly OFF LEASH! Improv Theater Nights. On November 5, Bindlestiff Family Variety Arts and Walking the dog Theater will partner for the second year bringing young local authors’ ghost stories to life in various “haunted” buildings in Hudson as part of the GhostWALK Hudson Tour, evoking some of the history of our community.

Thanks to a generous angel supporter Walking the dog Theater is making it possible for audience members to see a full season of professional productions for just $99. Plus, 2010 Members receive one free additional Membership when they purchase their first, paid for by the anonymous donor. That’s two season Memberships for the price of one! To take advantage of this special and limited offer while it is available, visit www.wtdtheater.org and click on “Become a Member”. And members who do not have someone to give their second membership to, can give it back: WTD will make it available to a community member who will benefit!

WTD’s 2010 Season is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, as well as by a grant from the Hudson River Bank and Trust Foundation. Major Media Sponsors for Our Town and GhostWALK Hudson are The Register-Star and Chatham Courier Newspapers. GhostWALK Hudson is made possible , in part, with funds from the Stewart’s Holiday Match.
